# Apply to join.

We build the community with intention. A short application, one 30-minute call, a decision on both sides, and you are in. Here is exactly how it works.

## How you become a Global Macedonian

Five steps, no surprises. How long it takes depends mostly on when the next First Hello is scheduled.

1. 1
Five minutes
### Apply
Tell us who you are, what you do and why you want in. A board or team member reads every application.
2. 2
30 minutes, online
### First Hello
A group video call with board members, the team and other applicants. Pick a slot that suits you and ask anything.
3. 3
After the call
### Decide together
You decide whether the community is for you; we check the fit with our three values. We confirm by email either way.
4. 4
Membership
### Become a member
Activate your membership as a contributing member. Students join on a student membership. Welcome in.
5. 5
From day one
### Start your journey
Join the Slack community, get member-only invitations online and in person, and take part in the projects.

## Are we a fit?

We can't know until we meet, but the people who thrive here share three things.

* Altruism
A genuine drive to give back, to the community and to people back home.
* Proactivity
You take action instead of observing. Members run the events, mentoring and projects.
* Apolitical mindset
We stay above the noise of daily politics and focus on what we can build together.
